Karsten commits to eco-friendly golf balls - Phoenix Business Journal

Post Date: 8/21/2009

Dixon Golf just got a retail deal at the Karsten Golf Course at Arizona State University. The Mesa-based company’s signature product is a 100 percent eco-friendly golf ball called “Earth.” It’s made from recycled materials and is itself recyclable.

Company tests show the ball performs to key golf standards and maintains high performance levels. Karsten will offer the Earth balls in its pro shop and serve as a recycling center for them. The course also will serve as a testing site for future Dixon products.

“ASU Karsten is making a concerted effort to help protect the environment, and we are excited to be able to offer Earth-friendly golf products in our golf shop,” said Daryl Crawford, director of golf at the golf course.

Patrons can return used Earth balls to the shop and get credit for fresh ones. They also can bring in any other ball to receive a discount toward the purchase of the Dixon product.
